Bovey Castle’s Story

Originally built in 1907 as a private residence for the Viscount Hambledon, Bovey Castle later became a hotel and golf resort in 1930 owned by Great Western Railway. Nowadays it’s a perfect haven for families, couples, friends and anyone wanting a relaxing countryside escape.

The hotel rooms are furnished in a traditional style with every amenity a guest might desire including wonderful views of the surrounding countryside. Apart from hotel rooms, Bovey also offers Private Estate Lodges, perfect for families (and even our four-legged friends) to have a comfortable stay.

The hotel features several dining options, including the Great Western Grill, which offers fine dining experiences using locally sourced ingredients.

There’s also the Smith’s Brasserie for more casual dining and a spectacular Afternoon Tea service both traditional and champagne for a luxury treat.

Elan Spa and Studio is where guests can indulge in a peaceful retreat to restore and relax the mind and body. There is a pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam room and a gym for those wanting to be active. In addition, guests can experience a variety of treatments with Bovey’s qualified therapists.
